Strength in Pink: XIXILI Supports Breast Cancer Awareness at FMM Event

In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Pink October), the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) organized a powerful event on October 14th, 2024, with the theme Strength in Pink – A Movement for Breast Cancer Awareness. Held at Avante Hotel, Bandar Utama, this event brought together advocates, experts, and women entrepreneurs to raise awareness and promote early cancer detection. XIXILI, as a strong advocate of women's health and wellness, was honored to sponsor special goodie bags for all attendees, each containing a specially formulated lingerie wash, vouchers, and coin pouch as token of our support.

The day began with free medical screenings conducted by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), providing participants with essential health checks. The screenings covered key areas:

Clinical breast examinations to aid in breast cancer prevention,
Pap smears to detect and prevent cervical cancer,
Smokerlyzer analysis to assess lung cancer risk, and
Hepatitis B and C tests to identify liver cancer risks.

Additionally, attendees had the option of receiving paid vaccinations for influenza and HPV at highly competitive rates, reinforcing the event’s message of proactive health management.

Inspiring Leadership and Expert Insights

The event officially began with a warm welcome from Ms. Michelle Hah, Vice President of FMM and Chair of the FMM Women-in-Business Committee. Her opening remarks emphasized the importance of women-led initiatives in promoting health and wellness within the community. This was followed by an inspiring address from Dr. Hemala A/P Sivam, Chair of MAICCI Women Entrepreneurs and Executive Director of APS Manja Sdn Bhd, who shared her personal perspective on empowering women in both health and business.

The educational component of the event was led by NCSM, who provided invaluable insights into breast cancer trends in Malaysia. This session not only highlighted the importance of early detection for women but also extended to awareness about colon cancer, a leading concern for men. The briefing shed light on prevention strategies and the available resources for those affected by these common cancers.

Mr. Reece Kurta, Founder of Innovative Network Solutions Sdn Bhd (INS), recently presented pioneering advancements in breast imaging aimed at delivering pain-free, patient-centered solutions. Addressing key innovations, Mr. Kurta highlighted how INS leverages cutting-edge technology to improve breast cancer detection while prioritizing patient comfort. The latest techniques focus on accurate, non-invasive imaging methods that reduce the physical discomfort traditionally associated with breast screenings. With a commitment to enhancing early detection through advanced diagnostics, INS continues to redefine patient care standards, aiming to make breast screenings accessible, efficient, and comfortable for all.

Scam Awareness: Safeguarding Financial Health

A unique aspect of the event was a briefing by the Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) on scam awareness, delivered by ACP Puan Lai Lee Ching. Her session tackled the rise in scam cases in Malaysia, explaining the different types of scams and providing crucial tips on how to avoid falling victim. This session added an extra layer of awareness, reminding attendees to safeguard their financial health alongside their physical well-being.

A Sweet End to a Meaningful Day

The event culminated in a sumptuous Hi-Tea prepared by Avante Hotel's culinary team. Attendees enjoyed an array of delectable pastries, traditional kuihs, and other local delicacies while mingling and reflecting on the day’s insightful sessions.

At XIXILI, we believe that supporting women’s health goes beyond just offering well-crafted lingerie. It’s about being part of a movement that empowers women to take charge of their health and well-being. We are proud to have played a role in this impactful event, contributing to the ongoing efforts to raise awareness about breast cancer and women’s health issues.
